RAKCSS concluded a workshop on the best international practices with regard to methodologies and mechanisms of implementing population censuses in collaboration with the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) during 21-22 February 2018. This workshop is part of the efforts made by CSS in preparation for the 2020 GCC-wide Administrative population censuses, especially that the last population census in RAK was implemented in 2005. The workshop was facilitated by Dr. Ismail Lubbad, the social statistics expert at ESCWA. Attendants discussed the theoretical and practical aspects of the upcoming population census in RAK. Dr. Akoum, Executive Director of CSS, mentioned that this event is one of many planned to be conducted with ESCWA and the cooperation shall be intensified in the near future to gain from ESCWA’s expertise in this area.
