RAKCSS launched the Survey of the welfare and development of youth that will continue till May 2017 at the federal level. The survey is undertaken according to directives of the Ministry of State for Youth Affairs in collaboration with The Emirates Foundation for Youth Development, The Federal Competitiveness and Statistics Authority, and Dubai Economic Council. This survey is considered one of the important statistical projects that make available statistical data and indicators about the social and economic status of youth in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and enables them to express themselves and voice their own concerns and challenges they are facing. This information allows policy makers to make better-informed policies and social programs to meet the youth needs. In preparation for the survey in RAK, Mr. Adham Makky, geographic information systems (GIS) expert at the center conducted technical training sessions for field researchers and supervisors and launched the smart electronic maps application and explained how it is used. Fatmah Tenaiji, head of the statistics unit at RAKCSS, announced that the survey includes all geographic areas in the Emirate and provides data to be used by government bodies to develop their programs and regulations aimed at improving youth welfare.
