EMIRATE OF RAS AL KHAIMAH POPULATION, HOUSING, AND ESTABLISHMENTS CENSUS, 2023


His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the Federation and Ruler of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah assigned RAK Statistics Center in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah with the mission of conducting a housing and population census on behalf of the Emirate.

As such, The RAK Statistics Center leads the planning, preparation, and implementation process, including the extraction, analysis, approval, and issuance of results. This also involves the hiring, training, and monitoring of field workers who will visiting households around the Emirate and tabulating the data.
What's RAK Census 2023?

The United Nations defines a population census as: “the total process of collecting, classifying, evaluating, analysing and disseminating demographic, economic, and social data relating to all individuals in a specific community at a specific time".

General Population, Houses and Facilities Census of Ras Al Khaimah 2023 is the process of counting the entire population of both citizens and residents living in the Emirate and collecting information on living, educational, and social conditions of individuals and families. Beyond the provision of demographic data on the population of RAK, the census will also provide a comprehensive enumeration of all residential and commercial units in the Emirate.


Main objective of Ras Al Khaimah Census 2023

RAK Census 2023 is an integral part of the Emirate's "Vision 2030", which aims to achieve sustainable social and economic growth for the society of Ras Al Khaimah.

 The census will provide vital data needed to inform and set future strategic plans within various vital sectors in the Emirate.

Such data can provide governments with a deep understanding of the present and anticipated future needs of the growing resident population of the Emirate. 

Population data also enables the review and update of policies and development plans for the Emirate to safeguard and nurture the wellbeing of citizens and residents in the short, medium, and long-term.


Detailed objectives of Ras Al Khaimah Census 2023
  1. Providing data on the numbers of citizens and residents living in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah and their geographical distribution according to the administrative divisions (Emirate, Region, Area) and for both citizens and residents, to support urban planning efforts by the Ras Al Khaimah Municipality.

  2. Providing detailed data on the age and gender structure (population pyramid) for citizens and residents and providing basic data on population dynamics to prepare the appropriate ground for setting population growth expectations and defining the current and future needs such as services, housing, health care, education, infrastructure, and public services

  3. Providing data on families and dwellings and their characteristics, including the size of the family, the gender of head of the family, the number of workers, the unemployed, children of school age, young adults, senior citizens, cases of people of determination, chronic diseases, and health insurance for both citizens and residents.

  4. Providing data on enrolment in education amongst both citizens and non-citizens of all ages and on the educational level, the census will inform the educational sector setting the necessary plans for the education sector in the Emirate.

  5. Providing labor force data, including rates of participation in economic activity, unemployment, work sector, and workplace inside or outside the Emirate.

  6. Providing data about the establishments of all industries operating in the Emirate, including type of activity, establishment size, number of employees, and their respective assets and legal status.

  7. Providing a comprehensive statistical framework that enables the creation of a comprehensive statistical framework needed for designing and sampling benchmarks of future in-depth surveys and studies on economic, social, and demographic conditions of the Emirate.



Who are the people being counted in Ras Al Khaimah Census 2023?
RAK census 2023 includes individuals of all age groups present in the emirate on the night of the census, whether they are
 citizens, residents, or visitors.
