Executive Director of RAK CSS selected as member of the Intersecretariat Working Group on National Accounts ISWGNA Task Force on Islamic Banking

Executive Director of RAK CSS, Dr. Ibrahim Akoum has been selected as member of the Intersecretariat Working Group on National Accounts (ISWGNA) Task Force on Islamic Banking, a joint effort between the United States Statistics Department (UNSD) and the UN Economic and Social Commission for West Asia (ESCWA). The Intersecretariat Working Group on National Accounts (lSWGNA) has established the Task Force to conduct further research on the statistical implications of Islamic Banking and develop practical guidance on the treatment of its transactions in the national accounts as part of the research agenda of the SNA. The membership of the Task Force comprises experts in national accounts from a broad group of countries with a good geographical coverage and the members have a good understanding and knowledge of the calculation of output of financial services, classification of financial instruments and the operations of Islamic Banking as well as experience in collecting data on Islamic Banking. It is expected that members of the Task Force will actively engage in the discussions and/or the drafting of notes and recommendations.
