Innovative training opportunities for AURAK students as part of a partnership with the Ras Al Khaimah Center for Statistics, 11/07/2025
As part of the agreement signed in 2024 between Ras Al Khaimah Statistics Center (RAKSC) and the American University of Ras Al Khaimah (AURAK), RAKSC was thrilled to offer hands-on internship opportunities to AURAK students.
These projects were designed and supervised by RAKSC experts, giving students the opportunity to work on real-world challenges using advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI).
The first project focused on building an application programming interface (API) to make it possible for RAK Statistics Centre data users to automatically access the publicly available online datasets from the website, therefore making data files sharing more efficient.
In the second project, students contributed to the development of a platform that uses AI and natural language processing (NLP) to analyze public opinion on social and economic issues by processing content from social media and news. NLP allows the system to interpret large volumes of text and extract key trends and insights.
These internships provide students with valuable practical experience while also demonstrating how AI and NLP can improve data management and help better understand the concerns and interests of the public.
