His Highness Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council of the Federation and Ruler of the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah assigned the RAK Statistics Center (RAKSC) in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah with the mission of conducting a housing and population census on behalf of the Emirate.
As such, RAKSC would lead the planning, preparation, and implementation process, including the extraction, analysis, approval, and issuance of results. This involves the hiring, training, and monitoring of field workers who will visiting households around the Emirate and tabulating the data.
The Population Census is an integral part of the Emirate’s "Vision 2030", which aims to achieve sustainable social and economic growth and prosperity for Ras Al Khaimah. The census will provide vital data needed to inform and set future strategic plans within various vital sectors in the Emirate.
For strategic future planning to have an optimal effect on the wellbeing of the population of Ras Al Khaimah, relevant and accurate data must be collected. This includes quantification of numerous elements such as:
Demographic characteristics: age, gender and nationality.
Educational qualifications: educated or uneducated, and education level.
Marital status (married or single) and number of children
Health insurance coverage for citizens and non-citizens
Disabilities and chronic diseases
The workforce: such as economic activity, employees, and the unemployed.
Housing characteristics: ownership, number of rooms, and connection to public services.
Family possessions such as cars, smartphones, and type of air conditioning.
Residents across the Emirate can contact a dedicated population census call centre: 800-51 to enquire about census timing, languages spoken, data fields that will be collected, and how the information will be managed.
The census counts individuals of all age groups who are present in the Emirate of Ras Al Khaimah on the night of the count, be they citizens, residents, or visitors.
Only one person in each household needs to attend the interview. They will be required to answer all questions on behalf of their family members. The respondent can be the head of the household or a family member who is over 15 years old.
To support an efficient data collection process, are requested to cooperate with fieldworkers when he or she visits their residence by answering questions the field worker needs to fill out the census form.
